Cup of Tea and a Blog

Welcome to my spot for musing about all things tea. Here you'll read reviews of quality teas, click through comments on tea rooms and shops I've visited, and see photos of leaves and cups. You’ll also find things I might talk about over a cup of tea, like philosophy, literature, current events, or fun ways to pass the time.

Hiatus

Many apologies to all of my tea-drinking friends out there. I've had a series of family health emergencies and needed to take "leave of absence" from blogging for a bit.

I'll be back as soon as I'm able to take a deep breath. Thanks for your email messages and notes -- nice to know you haven't forgotten me. :)

Oh dear! I do hope everybody comes out of this more or less intact!

Cindy, hope all is well with your family. Writing the blog the way you have been is difficult, and it gets exhausting after a while. I hope you are able to get back to it soon. We miss you in the blogosphere!!

Cindy,

I bought from Teaspring and they fraud me! They keep my credit card info, overcharge me. Not only that, they are also associated with dvdivo.com and are selling pirated dvd!

I'm going to leave the above comment, since it wasn't anonymous. Everyone is entitled to their opinion (it is a bit suspicious, however, that they didn't post the comment to an entry about TeaSpring).

I cannot confirm or deny that Teaspring has anything to do with pirated DVDs (although that seems a bit of a stretch).

As someone who has purchased several teas and tea accessories from Teaspring.com, I can say that they have never overcharged my credit card. I have never felt they were dishonest or that they sent substandard products to me. Indeed, they've been just the opposite -- friendly, communicative, informative, and quick to respond and ship.

I love teaspring too. I bought from them before, but now I rather buy from sevencups.com. At least they are a legit company. Teaspring got me a little worried as they were previously a keveally company and now eritier. Even their payment provider is different now. Afterall the price difference is not much, for me, i rather be buy from an actual US company.

After reading about teaspring, I am really curious who is the people behind TeaSpring. Someone in TeaChat claim that the company running TeaSpring don't exist in California. There's too much doubt and suspicion on this company, TeaSpring/Eritier.

Hi, I just found your blog while searching for tea shops in Seattle. Very cool. And what a great teacup collection. I'm really envious.

In your Seattle tea shop review listing I didn't see the Queen Mary or the Library Cafe. Will you be adding them at some point? They're both quite wonderful.

Hi -- glad you found me. :)

I'm working on an update to the Tea in Seattle web site right now. It should be up in the next few days (some shops have closed, and I've added a few new places, changed details, etc).

I don't know of the Library Cafe. If you check back, could you post some information? I'd love to give it a try.

The Queen Mary is another story. I've gone back and forth on putting it on my web site for two reasons. First, I've never actually visited, because of the second reason, which is that I've heard so many bad things about it. I've heard and read that it's noisy, overpriced, with bad food, and (worse) poorly made tea. I'm willing to change my mind, though, and perhaps its time for me to actually check it out on my own. :)

I also need to check out a couple of the fancy afternoon teas done at downtown hotels. Hmmmmm. . . as soon as the current heat wave abates, maybe I've got an excuse for afternoon tea service.
